Employee Highlights
July 2025 WOWS

Alexa continually goes above and beyond and strives for continuous improvement instead of letting things be “good enough.” She is very thoughtful and brings together our motley crew! For example, she makes peoples’ birthdays special and sometimes she also cooks for our team meetings.

For the past eight months, Bryce has gone above and beyond by taking on not only his own work but also the responsibilities of a former employee who left in October 2024. He stepped in without complaint and has shown great dedication during this time.

With the transition to UKG, Jovan worked relentlessly, in the early morning and late after her normal hours, to assure that our first payroll in the new system went as smoothly as possible. As expected, there were discrepancies, but without her dedication and hard work, there for sure would have been many more.

Dr. T has been doing an incredible job running the clinic as the sole adult provider in the clinic for the last two weeks so far, taking on double her average workload!! WOW! That is immense Kuleana, Hilina’i, Maika’i Loa, and Ola to ensure Uhoho’i! Though stressful, she has handled the responsibility with determination.

New Employees
Job Stringfellow
Radiology, Director of Imaging Services
Please welcome Job Stringfellow, our new Director of Imaging Services! Job is a native of Baltimore, Maryland and a loyal fan of the Baltimore Ravens. He joined the Airforce right out of high school and started working in Imaging at 17 years old, continued working there until today. His time in the Airforce has taken him to many states in the country, as well as internationally. Most recently, he moved to Hawaii from South Carolina, skipping over other job offers in Louisiana, Colorado and Washington, to name a few. But Job’s decision to move here, despite never having visited before, was deliberate and purposeful. He loved the community-based hospital setting, and the vibe he felt when he interviewed. So far, since arriving in Hawaii and starting his role here at KMC, Job is very happy! And he loves his work because of the variety of ways he can serve in this capacity; never a dull moment working in imaging (so he says)!

We’re thrilled to share that the Helmsley Charitable Trust has committed $6 million to support our Emergency Department expansion and Phase 2 of the OCHIN Epic implementation—an incredible investment in our future and the care we provide.
In other exciting news, we’re gearing up for our next employee party! A party planning committee will be formed soon, so stay tuned for details and opportunities to get involved.
Chief Financial Officer
Ariane Haiola-Castillo
In comparison to recent months, our financial numbers have dipped this month. However, we are not discouraged because we where we are today is still higher than where we were at this time last year. Moreover, according to what was budgeted for the fiscal year, we are still doing well as an organization. We have noted that summer is often a time when patients go on vacation, as well as our employees who would normally be here providing services. Regardless, the challenge remains for each of our departments to consider what they can do to offset these times that we anticipate these fluctuations in our patient visits and staffing. We thank you all for your good work.
Please be aware that we are moving to an electronic management system for materials and supplies. We look forward to making this process more efficient for all of you, and reliable in tracking the supplies we are purchasing.
Chief Operations Officer
Matt Mamizuka
We are pleased to announce that we received a 10.8 Grant Award from the State for Capital Improvement Projects. We are currently working on developing plans for utilizing these funds for the Emergency Department expansion and long-term developments at KMC.
There are three other projects that are currently underway regarding improvements on campus that have secured funding: 1) replacing the old generator and updating the electrical panels and switches along with it, 2) interior painting, and 3) 2nd floor flooring in August. We are grateful for the funding we have received and look forward to enjoying these updated renovations.

IT is very busy right now gearing up for new and exciting things with OCHIN Epic! They are working to prepare the breakroom with new workstations that will be used for OCHIN training. The Phone Queue project will go live on August 15th, which involves cleaning up the phone tree and setting up a call center. There is also a New Server Room Project, which requires moving the old server to a new location to support the upcoming systems we will be using. We anticipate this to happen before the end of the year. And fiinally, we are preparing diligently for all pieces to be in place and users ready for OCHIN Epic Phase 2 go-live on March 1st.
